1 Corinthians 15:19-26
If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each in turn: Christ, the first fruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 1 Corinthians 15:19-26 (NIV)
At first glance, 1 Corinthians 15:19-26 seems pretty deep and maybe difficult to understand. However, to simplify these verses Paul discusses resurrection and the conquering of death. He encourages our faith in God's promises for everlasting life, and reminds us that death is temporary and will eventually be overcome.
By believing in Christ’s death and resurrection, we have placed our trust in Christ to forgive us of our sins. The point being, that for those who have died with faith in Christ, they will not perish but are destined for resurrection.
Paul’s use of the term, "the first fruits" suggests the beginning of a new time. No longer is death an ending situation; but instead, Christ's resurrection is the life eternal which God has planned for humanity from the beginning. This life will now be attainable to all believers.
The last enemy to be destroyed is death.

- In your faith, do you trust that your belief will provide salvation and everlasting life?
- If you answered No to question 1, why?
- As we all age, we may sometimes have concerns or worries about our longevity and what our future holds. Does your faith in our salvation provide comfort?
- If you answered No to question 3. What actions and plans can you take to reduce or eliminate those concerns and strengthen your belief and confidence in God's promise?
Prayer:
Lord, help us keep aware of Your promise of salvation and everlasting life. Give us the power to strengthen our bond with You in prayer and appreciation for Your gifts. Help us act with Your wisdom, and live in a way that brings glory to Your name. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen
