Serving together is what Southwood is all about!

We believe God is already at work in our community. This has led Southwood to partner with organizations in the transformational work that is happening all around us. Southwood joins in that work by equipping and empowering our congregation to serve our neighbors in the Lincoln area. 

You are invited to join us in serving. There are a variety of opportunities available for individuals, groups and families throughout the year.

Southwood Serves! It is what we do. Every year we have one day for hundreds of people to serve in many ways to impact our Church, Community and World! Opportunities to serve throughout Lincoln, at Southwood and from home are available for everyone. One church working for one morning can make a HUGE impact!

Garden Harvest

All are welcome to help harvest the garden, Wednesdays, 6 – 7PM. Bring your gardening gloves and a water bottle.

*Sign up isn’t required, but it helps us communicate with volunteers in case of weather or other changes.

Food Distributions

Southwood partners with the Food Bank of Lincoln

  • Mobile Food Distributions
    • Southwood Parking Lot  Third Tuesday of each month 3:15 PM - 5:00 PM
    • Palmyra 9th & G Parking Lot  Second Saturday of each month 10:15 AM - Noon
  • In-School Food Distributions
    • Backpack Program at Saratoga Elementary School
    • Food Markets at Lincoln Northeast High School

Southwood also partners with Eventide Meals on Wheels to deliver boxes of food monthly.

Southwood Garden

You'll find the garden on the southeast side of the church property.  Each year volunteers help grow produce that is donated to the Food Bank for distribution in the community.

There are opportunities to work in the garden from June - October.  Volunteers plant, weed, harvest and transport produce throughout the growing season.

Health Clinics
Clinic with a Heart provides medical, dental, vision, chiropractic and behavioral health care at no cost to uninsured or underinsured people. Southwood has partnered with Clinic with a Heart for many years to serve the health care needs of our community.

Clinic with a Heart provides services with the help of licensed professionals. If you are a medical, dental or specialty provider, RN, APRN or LPN and would like to volunteer contact Clinic with a Heart at 402.421.2924.

Food Donations

Southwood supports Saratoga Elementary with food donations for its Free Little Pantry. Items for donation can be left in the shopping cart by Southwood Central.

    • Soups

    • Boxed juices
    • Fish in Oil
