1 John 3:1-3

We Are God’s Children

See what great love the Father has for us that He would call us His children. And that is what we are. For this reason, the people of the world do not know who we are because they did not know him. Dear friends, we are God’s children now. But it has not yet been shown to us what we are going to be. We know that when He comes again, we will be like Him because we will see Him as He is. The person who is looking for this to happen will keep himself pure because Christ is pure. 1 John 3:1-3 (NLT)

It is comforting to read and know that we are God’s children now. But should we be comfortable and rest on that knowledge?

Because we are God’s children, we believe that we have been washed and made pure by Jesus’ blood on the cross. We don’t know what the future, near or distant, holds for us. Meanwhile, because we have been made pure, we are to live as God’s children. Daily ask for forgiveness; pray to God to lead us in the right direction daily – not just on Sunday mornings, but always.

Living as God’s children, we will love others as Jesus did, helping those in need – the homeless, the outcast, the poor among us and outside our borders.

Questions for Reflection:

  • What is your purpose today? Do you have plans? Carry God with you.

Prayer:

Thank you, God, for this day and thank you for your love. Help us to remember your presence in our lives. Amen
