2 Corinthians 10:8-11
“For even if I boast a little too much of our authority, which the Lord gave for building you up and not for destroying you, I will not be ashamed. I do not want to appear to be frightening you with my letters. For they say, “His letters are weighty and strong, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech of no account.” Let such a person understand that what we say by letter when absent, we do when present.” 2 Corinthians 10:8-11 (ESV)
The author of 2 Corinthians, Paul, proclaims boldly, honestly, and with authority about his calling from God. While it seems there are those that questioned his calling, his authority, his words, and even his conviction to live out his words of faith in action, Paul continues to stay bold in his faith.
I can’t help but think of the multitude of ways we can share our faith, our voice, our convictions, our thoughts, and our self with others in this day and age. From Facebook, Instagram, text, blogging, tweeting, email, and so on and so forth, we are in a world of constant communication.
With all the ways to share and spread our voice and our faith, may we not forget to have the same vigor in living out our faith.
How do you live out your faith?
Are there places, spaces, and times in your life where our words are stronger than your actions?
Are you more prone to the speaking of your faith or the living out of your faith?
Like Paul, may we know that we have been called by God.
May we know that we can both speak and live out our faith boldly.
Questions for Reflection:
- What are the ways you both share and live out your faith?
- Where do you live out your faith the most? Where do you tend to hide your faith?
Prayer
Dear Lord,
Empower us to continually live out our faith both in word and deed. May we live boldly knowing we have been called by you to be a servant in this world.
Amen.
