Acts 11:1–18
In the Ted Lasso Christmas episode, "Carol of the Bells," Coach Higgins and his wife open their home to players and staff who are far from family. As everyone arrives, they bring dishes that reflect their cultures and traditions, from Nigerian jollof rice to Dutch and Mexican specialties. What could have been a lonely holiday becomes a joyful celebration of belonging. (Watch a clip here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXZdEHUroCU)
In Acts 11:1–18, Peter explains how God revealed that the Gospel was for everyone, including the Gentiles. The early believers had to learn that God's family was bigger than the boundaries they had created.
The Higginses' Christmas table offers a beautiful picture of this truth. People from different nations, backgrounds, and experiences gather around one table, sharing food, stories, and friendship. Their differences are not erased; they are welcomed and celebrated.
God's kingdom looks much the same. Imagine a table where lefse, collard greens, maize, tamales, kimchi, and jollof rice are served side by side, a feast that reflects the beauty and diversity of God's people. Through Christ, strangers become family and outsiders find a place to belong.

Questions for Reflection:
- Who has welcomed you when you felt like an outsider? What did that experience teach you about God's grace?
- How can your life reflect the wide embrace of God's love and hospitality?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for welcoming me into Your family. Help me to open my heart and my table to others, reflecting Your love and grace to everyone I meet. Amen.
