Ephesians 3:14-21

Paul's prayer in Ephesians is a powerful reminder of the depth of God's love and the limitless power available to us, as believers. Paul was praying to God for ALL people. He wanted them to be strong, not on the outside, but on the inside! Paul prayed that Jesus would live in everyone's hearts, making them feel His love. He asked God to give them power through His Spirit.

When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.  Ephesians 3:14-21 (NLT)

When we believe in Jesus, it's like He moves into our hearts and lives there. We are to live a life worthy of this calling. It should be a life filled with joy, praise, thanksgiving, a life of humility, love and grace toward others. A life filled with kindness and love, following the example of Jesus. Through the spirit, God has marked us as his own.

There may be times that we do not feel worthy of God’s love and grace. We have sinned, made bad choices, hurt others, distanced ourselves from the church and maybe even God. The best part is that God wants to fill us up with everything He has. His love and grace are never ending. He wishes to have a relationship with us and be a constant presence in our lives.

I've always thought that because God loves me so much that he sent his only son to die for me and forgive my sins, I want to do what pleases Him. Not because I have to, but because I want to. So while it is true that we are saved by faith and not by works, as believers we should live our lives so that they reflect our gratitude for this great gift! All we need to do is believe in Him, and His power through the spirit that works in us. We should give God all the glory for that, forever and ever.

Questions for Reflection:

  • What are some ways you can feel Jesus' love in your heart? How can you show that love to the people around you?
  • Can you think of a time when God did something amazing that you didn't even expect?

Prayer:

Dear God, Thank you for your amazing power and love. Please make me strong, on the inside, with your Spirit. Help Jesus live in my heart, and help me understand how big and wonderful your love is. Fill me up with your love and help me to show your love and glory to others. Amen.

I love singing in the choir, volunteering at church and at Clinic With a Heart and really enjoy serving on a worship Care Team. Now that I am retired, I am so blessed to be able to spend more time with my family, especially my three little grandsons and my new little granddaughter.
