Psalm 19:7-11
Do you own a Bible? Most of us probably own at least one. I think I have at least five! I have the one I got as a child that is full of pictures, one I received at my confirmation, and one I purchased later in life that is a study Bible. I also have my mom’s childhood Bible and my grandma’s German Bible. Owning scripture and experiencing its word and power are two different things. Psalm 19:7-11 gives us six descriptions of God’s Word and six ways it changes us.
The Law of the Lord is perfect, giving new strength to the soul. The Law He has made known is sure, making the child-like wise. The Laws of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The Word of the Lord is pure, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the Lord is pure, lasting forever. The Lord is always true and right in how He judges. The Word of the Lord is worth more than gold, even more than much fine gold. They are sweeter than honey, even honey straight from the comb. And by them Your servant is told to be careful. In obeying them there is great reward. Psalm 19:7-11 (NLV)
God's laws are perfect and help us know what is right and good. The rules God gives us are wise and help us make good choices. His teachings bring joy and happiness to our hearts. God’s Word is meant to be a source of delight to our hearts and minds. It is a precious gift that nourishes our souls and gives us hope and strength to face life’s many challenges. Following God's word helps us see things clearly. God's commands are good and help us live a happy, safe life. When we obey God, we are rewarded with blessings.
If we take a moment to look around, creation is constantly preaching. Look at the sunrise, the sunset, the clouds and stars in sky, flowers blooming in the spring, the changing seasons. It is easy to rush through life without noticing these reminders. Psalm 19 invites us to slow down and pay attention. God cares not only about our outward actions but also about our inner thoughts, our motives, and our attitudes. Consider the richness and sweetness of God’s Word in your own life! If the heavens declare his glory, we should gladly do the same!

Prayer:
Dear God, Thank you for revealing your glory through creation and your truth through your Word. Open our eyes to see your presence around us and soften our heart to receive your word. Guide our thoughts, words, and actions. Let our words and actions be pleasing to you. Amen.
