Ephesians 3:14-21
For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! This past Sunday afternoon, we celebrated the rite of Confirmation, as dozens of our youth affirmed their baptism. During their short lives, they have attended Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and DELVE (confirmation) classes. In addition, their parents have hopefully read the Bible to them, and/or done family devotions with them. They have learned about God, sin, grace, the Trinity, the sacraments, and a host of other things.
So many things to learn! And as they get older and learn more, they will probably realize what we all seem to realize as we get older – the more I know, the more I realize I don’t know.
But what is the important thing to remember? What does Paul pray for the Ephesians? “I pray that you, . . . may have power . . . .to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.”
Even though we may not understand the Trinity, or we may not understand why bad things happen, or we may not understand the sacraments, I think the most important thing to know is that God has a love that is bigger than we can imagine. No matter what – God loves us. Life is good.

- What can you do to continue to grow in your love for God and others?
Prayer:
Gracious God, Thank you for loving us, even when we don’t always show our love for you. Help us to continue to grow in our faith. Amen.
