Psalm 46:10
"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." Psalm 46:10 (NIV)
Life often moves at a relentless pace, pulling us in many directions and filling our minds with endless thoughts, worries, and distractions. Yet, in the midst of it all, God gently calls us to pause, to be still, and to remember who He is. This verse is not just an invitation to quietness but a reminder that in the stillness, we find God’s presence, peace, and strength.
March 28th holds a special place in my heart. It is the birthday of my brother—the brother I never had the chance to meet. He passed away when he was just nine months old, yet his presence has always been woven into the fabric of my life. Though we never shared laughter or childhood memories, I have felt the connection, the family ties that stretch beyond time.
There are moments, especially when I’m with my children, that I sense his presence—a quiet nudge, a feeling that he is near. It’s in those moments that I’m reminded of God’s faithfulness, His gentle way of showing us that love never fades and that even the briefest of lives can leave a lasting imprint.
Stillness before God doesn’t mean the absence of pain or longing; it means trusting that He holds every piece of our story. It means knowing that in our deepest losses, He is still good. And in our moments of stillness, He speaks, He comforts, and He reminds us that we are never alone.
Questions for Reflection:
- Where in your life do you need to pause and trust God’s presence? How can you make space to be still and listen for His gentle whispers of love?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being present in both the joy and the sorrow. Help me to be still and know that You are near. On this day, I lift up my heart to You, remembering my brother and trusting in Your eternal love. Remind me that even in the quiet, You are working. Let me rest in Your peace and cherish the moments You give. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
