Romans 10:14-17
Reflect on those people in your life who have walked with you and helped you grow in your faith. Maybe it was your parents, grandparents, a Sunday School teacher, family friend, or members of the church. Think about how they have helped you grow in your love of Jesus. God works through ordinary people to spread an extraordinary message.
God also calls us to be messengers of hope in a weary world. We are called to be his hands, his feet, his voice. We may feel unqualified, awkward, or even afraid of saying the wrong thing. Even the disciples questioned Jesus, wondering why he had chosen them. Romans 10 shifts the focus away from our perfection and toward God’s power through His Word.
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?” Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. Romans 10:14-17 (NIV)
We should not underestimate the impact of simply speaking about Christ. We do not need to be scholars or experts. We just need to remember that God will be with us and He will fill us with the Holy Spirit to help us spread His word. If you believe that God loves you, and that He sent his only son to die for you, then you’ve got a story to tell! Faith is not produced by pressure, personality, or performance. It begins when hearts encounter the truth about Jesus. We all can talk about our faith and our love of God. Hearing, believing, and confessing our faith in Jesus leads to salvation. It is important that we share the message of Jesus’ love with others, because we never know if someone’s heart is ready to listen and follow Him. God wants His children to spread the message so more people will believe and spend eternity with Him. God wants us to be bold. Beautiful feet are not perfect feet, they are just willing.
Questions for Reflection:
- Are you willing to be bold for God and to share your faith?
- What led you to believe?
- Who can you tell about Jesus? Share the message with that person this week!
Prayer:
Lord, Thank You for allowing me to hear the good news of Christ. Help me never to take Your Word for granted. Give me courage to speak with love, humility, and truth. Use my life to point others toward You. Let my words and actions reflect the hope of Jesus today. Amen.
