Psalm 17
“Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings.” Psalm 17:8 (NIV)
Psalm 17 is a prayer of trust in the middle of difficulty. David comes honestly before God, asking to be heard, examined, protected, and guided. Rather than taking matters into his own hands, David places his situation in God's care.
There are times when we may feel misunderstood, treated unfairly, or surrounded by circumstances beyond our control. We may struggle to explain what we are going through, or wonder whether anyone notices how much it hurts. Psalm 17 reminds us that God sees what others cannot see. God knows our hearts, hears our prayers, and remains near when we feel alone. We can bring our frustration, fear, and questions to God honestly, trusting that we do not have to face them by ourselves.
The psalm asks God for protection, using the tender image of being sheltered under God’s wings. Even when our circumstances do not change right away, we can take comfort in knowing that God listens, cares for us, and holds us close.
The image of being hidden “in the shadow of your wings” is a beautiful picture of God's protection. It reminds us that we have a safe place in God's presence. We may not know how every situation will unfold, but we can trust the One who sees the beginning, the middle, and the end.
When life feels uncertain, we don't have to carry everything ourselves. We can bring our fears, frustrations, and questions to God. We can ask for protection without allowing fear to control us, and we can choose integrity even when others do not treat us fairly.
Today, whatever you are facing, remember: God sees you, God hears you, and God's presence is with you.

- Am I allowing fear or bitterness to influence my heart?
- What would it look like for me to trust God more fully today?
Prayer:
Dear God,
Thank You for seeing me and knowing my heart.
When I feel overwhelmed or misunderstood,
help me find refuge in Your presence.
Protect me, guide me, and give me wisdom for every situation.
Keep my heart free from bitterness and fear.
Help me trust You with the things I cannot control
and rest beneath the shadow of Your wings.
May I walk faithfully, knowing that You are near.
