Genesis 22:1-14
As a teacher, I always love adding a little fun to the classroom to practice a skill. Here’s the condensed version of one of my favorites:
Directions: Read this whole paper first, and then follow the directions given. You have 5 minutes to complete this quiz.
1) Write your name in the upper right-hand corner of this page.
2) Circle the word “name” in sentence one.
3) Draw five small circles in the box to the right.
4) Put an “X” on each circle.
5) Put a box around each circle.
6) Now that you have finished reading carefully, do only the direction for sentence number 1. Flip your paper over and watch the others “follow directions”!
Of course, the inevitable happened: most got started and kept going, scrambling to make it to the end of the quiz in the time limit. However, there were always a couple. A couple of kids that did just as the directions asked, read the whole paper, got to the bottom, and stopped after the last direction. Their eyes lit up knowing they had found the answer, the surprise, and then they waited for everyone else to figure it out too.
God tested Abraham in Genesis. God didn’t actually want to hurt Isaac; He wanted to see if Abraham loved God more than anything else. Testing him to see if he was willing to follow ALL of the directions as God had instructed, even if he felt it should have been done differently.

- God knows what you need. How do you show God that you trust his plan?
Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Thank you for all that you are and all that you have made me to be. Thank you for taking care of me no matter what. Help me to trust You with all my heart, even when things are hard, scary, or don't make sense. Help me to put You first in my life above everything else.
