Throughout Southwood’s “Focusing on Our Future” stewardship campaign this month, we’ll be sharing stories about congregational members who make faith a focus in their life. This focus has led them to share their time, talents and resources to help Southwood grow as a church.
Life can be a blur – especially with a growing family. How do you stay centered on your faith when life is moving so fast? By becoming active at Southwood, Matt and Brandi Novosad have been able to make faith a focus of their family’s life. They joined Southwood when their sons, Carter and Tanner, were young. They initially got involved volunteering at Southwood because they felt it would help hold them accountable to regular church attendance.
Matt and Brandi wanted to be a bigger part of the Southwood community and started volunteering in several areas of the church. They really enjoy serving as Café hosts as it is an opportunity to see many familiar faces while also getting to meet new people. As Café hosts, they can also serve together as a family. With children active in sports, they’ve appreciated the cooperation and flexibility offered when they’ve needed to switch shifts with other volunteers.
Over the years, Matt and Brandi have actively participated in Southwood’s stewardship campaign and worked to meet a tithing goal. In addition to sharing their financial resources, the Novosad family also shares their time. “Southwood impacts so many lives and what better way to be a part of that fun than volunteering with your family and friends.”
When asked what they see as the greatest opportunity for Southwood’s future, the Novosads focused on the church’s opportunity to be the heart of the community. “By giving back to others, our church can impact our community on a larger scale while also continuing our mission work in other countries.”
