Year in the Bible
Christians read the Bible. Scripture is one of the tools that disciples have in their backpacks to support and nurture faith. The Bible is not just words, but it is words that are living and active. When we read the Bible, it does something to us. It encourages, challenges, comforts, and inspires. It convicts, frees, humbles, and uplifts. It gives new life. It reveals Christ. It creates faith. This year, we are reading the whole Biblical narrative together, to increase our familiarity and knowledge of this discipleship tool and to receive its benefit.
When does reading begin?
- One Story, One Church, One Year launches on Sunday, September 13, 2026; the first day of readings starts on Monday, September 14. If you miss the start date, no worries! Jump in at any point in the year.
What's the plan?
- The plan is personal Bible reading supported through communal experience. Follow the reading schedule, come to church, engage in a small group, attend a Bible study, or go to a class, all of it working together to enrich and deepen you in faith. Read by yourself, with a friend or family, join or lead a small group, there are many ways to read through the bible with us this year!
How can you get involved?
Daily Readings: The reading plan includes a M-F, Old and New Testament reading schedule, leaving the weekend for catchup, rest, and church. When you sign up, you will receive daily emails that will include the readings plus helpful reflections and resources. The email includes a link to listen to the readings. Read or listen by yourself, with a friend or family, join or lead a small group, there are many ways to read through the bible with us this year!
Small Groups: Scripture is intended to be discussed and discerned with others. Small groups are spaces to develop trusted community questions of faith can be asked and mutual support given.
Sunday Worship: All year, sermons will be based on the weekly readings. We read as individuals but we hear, together, what God’s Word has to say to us as one community of faith.
Classes: Because learning about the Bible helps us to understand what we are reading Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. Learn about the books, discuss readings, and meet people.
