Luke 15:8–10
“Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.’ In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” Luke 15:8–10 (NIV)
It’s easy to feel like just one among many—one person in a busy world, one voice in a noisy crowd. But this short parable reminds us of something powerful: every single one matters deeply to God.
When the woman in the story loses one coin out of ten, she doesn’t dismiss it. She doesn’t say, “Well, I still have nine.” She lights a lamp, turns her house upside down, and searches carefully until the lost is found. And when she finds it? She throws a celebration!
This is how God sees you.
He notices when you drift. He cares when you're hurting, struggling, or feeling far from Him. And He doesn't stop searching until you're found. Not because you've earned it, but because you belong to Him.
He’s not content with 9 out of 10. He wants you—fully known, fully seen, fully loved.
Questions for Reflection:
- Have you ever felt like the “lost coin”—overlooked or forgotten?
- What does it mean to you that heaven rejoices over just one person returning to God?
Prayer:
God, thank You for seeing me when I feel unseen. Thank You for searching for me when I’m lost and for celebrating when I’m found. Help me to remember my worth in Your eyes and to reflect Your love toward others who need to know they matter. Amen.
