Titus 2:11-14
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. Titus 2:11-14 (MEV)
Ok…I have to ask. Anyone else feel like this time of year we are “waiting”. Waiting to make that New Year’s Resolution because you ate too many dips involving cream cheese? Waiting just a little bit longer to take down the Christmas decorations? It’s not Christmas anymore but you aren’t ready for the new year normal and thus here we are “waiting”. We wait in the gap. For some we get right on that New Year’s goal…and for some we know we should but there’s always next week. We know we should take down the ornaments but they still bring us joy. We know what we “should” do and we do something else instead.
In the above lesson, Paul talks about this “gap” and waiting. We know what we should do to follow God, however, we find ourselves falling short as we are asked to wait. God gives us grace that we may do what he asks out of us for others. And as hard as it is he asks us to do what is good in his name as we are asked to wait.
Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Thank you for all that you are and all that you have allowed me to be. I pray that you continue to give me the patience to wait for what is to come. For waiting is worth it.
