2 Corinthians 4:16–18
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen…” 2 Corinthians 4:16–18 (NIV)
There are seasons in life when it feels like everything is weighing you down. You’re tired. You’re stretched thin. You’re doing your best, but it doesn’t always feel like enough.
Paul understood that feeling—yet he reminds us not to lose heart. Why? Because even when it feels like we’re wearing out on the outside, God is doing something deeper on the inside. He’s renewing us day by day.
The hard things you’re walking through? They’re not wasted. They’re producing something far greater than you can imagine—eternal glory. That doesn’t mean it’s easy, but it does mean it’s meaningful.
This passage invites us to shift our focus. Not to what we can see—the messy, exhausting, overwhelming parts of life—but to what we can’t see yet: God’s faithfulness, His purpose in our pain, and the promise of something more.
So today, if you're tired or discouraged, remember this truth: God is not done with you. Keep your eyes on Him. What’s unseen is eternal—and absolutely worth it.
Questions for Reflection:
- What part of your life feels heavy or exhausting right now?
- Can you see any signs of how God might be renewing you from the inside out?
- What helps you keep your eyes focused on what is eternal?
Prayer:
God, some days I feel worn out—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. But Your Word reminds me not to lose heart. Help me to trust that You’re working in me, even when I can’t see it clearly. Fix my eyes on what is eternal. Help me to walk by faith, not by sight. Renew my heart today, and remind me that You are with me in every moment.
Amen
