Ephesians 1:11-23

In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession - to the praise of his glory. For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.  I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way. Ephesians 1:11-23 (NIV)

This verse highlights the deep love and grace God has for us as believers. It emphasizes that we are not just randomly chosen or redeemed, but specifically handpicked by God for a purpose. It showcases the intentional and personal nature of God’s relationship with us.  It illustrates that we are not mere spectators in the grand scheme of things, but instead active participants in His divine plan.

Ephesians 1:11-23 shows the power and authority you have in Christ. Just as you manage your life, work and care for your family and others, you also need to step into your role in God’s kingdom. Embrace your blessings and responsibilities. Live your faith boldly, spread His love, help others when least expected, and be a light in this often-dark world of ours.

Pause to reflect on this verse as you consider the significance of being chosen by God. How does embracing the Holy Spirit serve as a constant reminder of God’s presence and guidance in your life?

Take a moment to dwell on the depth of God’s love for you and the assurance that comes with being sealed by His Spirit. Let this truth empower you to live a life that brings glory to God in all that you do every day.

Questions for Reflection:

  • How does knowing that you are handpicked by the Creator of the universe impact your sense of identity and purpose?
  • Will you rise to the challenge and fulfill God’s purpose for your life?

Prayer:

Lord, help us be constantly aware of all You provide. Keep us constantly aware that we have been specifically chosen by you to live Your glory. Give us the strength to routinely and actively show our appreciation for these gifts. Allow us to act as You desire to uplift and support those in need. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen
